Chemo: Phase 2

Last Wednesday started the second type of chemo (called Taxol). It is definitely going to be different from the first type. First off, Lynn was very awake the whole day where she usually crashes by 3pm or so. Secondly, it's a much longer process. We usually leave between 1-2pm. Wednesday we left around 3-4pm.

Lynn seems to have more energy on this one, but the nausea hit in full force on Saturday and lasted almost 24 hours. Called the doc who said that the most important part is fluids. I bought army grade gatorade tanks and installed them quickly. She was able to get down almost half of the orange one by the end of Sunday. Needless to say, no fun at all for Lynn.

We hope that the nausea is gone for this round and that it only gets easier. Time is getting shorter to the date of surgery. We have a few second opinions this month, a final consult early next month and the surgery early December. At least that's the proposed schedule. The plastic surgeon we met, Dr L, has been great. Acutally, I have to say that all the medical personnel up until now have been great. Insurance has been a bit annoying, but so far, other than one speed bump, they've gotten out of the way.

uggghh, Pi L and Z, this sucks. I was looking forward to keeping you company tomorrow, but will wait patiently until next week. You are both so brave with all of this, it blows me away. I'm proud to call myself your friend.

I think it is actually a written part of the job description for insurance to be difficult. Difficulty is their way to trying to convince you not to do things (that while being good for you) will cost them money.

Big love from a big distance. Go gatorade.
